We built the guest house in 2017 specifically for the purpose of hosting guests to our farm. We put every effort into making it energy efficient, comfortable and of course beautiful. The house is over insulated (R values above those required by building code), windows are triple glazed, ensuring energy efficiency and consistent temperatures ( warm in the winter, cool in the summer even during a heat wave).
Only the highest quality materials were used throughout- slate, soapstone, hardwood, zero VOC paints. There are no synthetic carpets or particle board to off gas. The house is equipped with a Heat Return ventilator , continuously exchanging indoor air with fresh outdoor air.
Our guests enjoy superb privacy and amazing views. The city of Nelson is a 10 min drive away, the ski hill is 30 min away, many amazing beaches are within a 5- 15 min drive.
Of course, our own natural swimming pools are just a few steps from the front door of the guest house. They are crystal clear fed by a small creek and springs, and despite the small size, they are a slice of paradise on a hot summer day. They are a magnet for humans and wildlife alike and attract many different species of dragonflies, frogs, butterflies and salamanders. What we don’t have in abundance is mosquitoes! Either it’s the mountain breeze that always moves the air up and down the hill, or resident frogs, or sufficient flow of water, but you won’t be bothered by pesky mosquitoes while staying with us.
The Guest House is fully furnished with quality furniture and equipped with everything from kitchen essentials to linens and towels.
With 2 bedrooms, a den/TV room and a living room, it comfortably sleeps 6 people.
